Getting After My Goals
At the beginning of the New Year I vowed to myself that I would get back to reading. I’m not talking about reading an article on the internet or picking up one of my favorite fashion magazines, I actually wanted to feel a book in my hand and get excited again as I read it from cover to cover. As a natural introvert and only child, I found solace in reading. However as motherhood, career and simply life began to takeover, it became difficult for me to ease my mind long enough to simply enjoy it. I cannot count the number of times that I would simply start a book only to lose interest mid-way through.
Once audible books were introduced to me I thought perfect this works for my busy lifestyle. The convenience of listening to a best seller while multi-tasking. That was the problem…I was too busy doing other things that I didn’t retain the material that I was listening to. At the beginning of the year I committed myself to reading 10-15 books this year and as of today I’m on my fourth book and guess what? Once I started spending less time on social media I found the time. Below are the books that have been recommended to me, or I found searching the Bestseller list. They were all great reads and I hope I inspire you to read at least one for yourself.
The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett
An American Marriage by Tayari Jones
